Why Do we Give?
Despite our tendency to shy away from talking about money, nearly one quarter of what Jesus talks and teaches about is just that! Money is morally neutral, but what we do with our money reveals something much deeper--what is in our hearts (Matthew 6:21). God is the creator and owner of all things, we are merely stewards of God's stuff (1 Chronicles 29:14).
Grace of God encourages all to follow the Biblical model of giving cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9:7) and sacrificially (Psalm 4:5). Giving our "first fruits" is an acknowledgment that all we have been given is given by God. Giving is an expression of worship in response to what God has done in our midst.

How to Give: Time
God calls us to actively share his love with those around us. Paul discusses our need to not only serve the body of believers, but also to serve the lost, whether that is through sharing Christ with a neighbor and inviting them to worship or volunteering at a soup kitchen.
At Grace of God we invite you to be a part of this work: God’s work. We invite you to be a part of the blessing that is found in serving the Lord within the body of Christ. We desire to see God’s family expanded. We love seeing hearts healed through the love of God. We long to see Lower Delaware transformed through the power of God’s saving grace. And we desperately want you to be involved in this mission: to show the love of Christ to others through our actions and ministry.
We have plenty of opportunities to get involved. We want to incorporate your unique gifts and talents in the work to serve others for the Lord, whose saving grace is sufficient for all. We at Grace of God feel that as a community of believers, we are called to be actively pursuing our community to share the love of God with them. These opportunities will provide you with a way to grow, increase in faith, know God better, and build godly relationships, all while sharing God’s love to those around us.
Some opportunities to Give of your time include: our Mobile Food Pantry (called Grocery Club) the third Wednesday of each month where we feed over 50 local families, Backpack night, serving on our church council, stewardship team, feeding ministry, "God's Work, Our Hands" community service Sunday, taking home communion to our friends and members unable to attends worship any longer, Serving as assisting minister for worship, singing in the choir, helping on the alter guild, or any other ministry you would like to create to work for peace and justice to show the love of Christ to others.

How to Give: Finances
It's no surprise that it costs money to operate a church. At Grace of God our desire is to see people come to know God intimately and continue to grow as we work to fulfill God's mission in the world of loving and helping others while providing witness to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Your financial support helps us accomplish this purpose. Our goals are not to acquire wealth or worldly riches, but to welcome all to the love and acceptance of the Kingdom of God. This, we believe, is accomplished by consistently living out the gospel of Jesus Christ.
We take financial accountability very seriously. If you are interested in knowing more about our financials (what our money goes to and how it is used for mission) you can contact our Financial Committee, who work hard and would love to answer any questions you have. We are completely open and love sharing how God has been incredibly faithful and blessed Grace of God in our short history so far. But with blessing comes great responsibility, and we constantly seek the Lord’s guidance on how we distribute all funds that come into Grace of God. Currently our biggest ministry is our monthly mobile food pantry, Grocery Club. With our funds being cut and more families coming seeking help with food, more funds are needed each month. We are currently feeding about 50 families each month, but have a waiting list 15 families long! |
